Bridgetown Port Welcomes Carnival Sunshine

AIDAmar Makes Inaugural Call
Barbados on Saturday welcomed the 13th vessel to make an inaugural call at the Bridgetown Port during this winter season.
The Carnival Corporation German cruise ship, AIDAmar, one of the Sphinx-series vessels, brought 2 680 passengers and 630 crew to the island.

Another Mega Ship, Mein Schiff 3 Makes A Maiden Port Call To Barbados
Bridgetown - The fourth ship to make a maiden voyage to Barbados for the winter season, the TUI Cruise vessel M/S Mein Schiff 3 is one of the largest expected this year. The impressive 962ft long vessel required the full length of Berths 3 and 4 on this trip to dock. On its next trip it will test the ship readiness of the new Berth 5, which came on stream just this month, in preparation for the island hosting two mega ships at once, M/S Mein Schiff 3 and the M/S Britannica.

Norwegian Getaway Makes Its Inaugural Visit To Barbados
Bridgetown, November 7, 2015 - The cruise ship Norwegian Getaway made its inaugural call to the Bridgetown Port today, the third of sixteen inaugural ships expected this season. Officials of the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, Barbados Port Inc., and shipping agents, Platinum Port Agency Inc. officially welcomed the new vessel, which was built just last year.

The Cruise Ship MV Oosterdam is the First Inaugural Vessel for the Winter Season
Bridgetown, October 31, 2015 - The cruise ship MV Oosterdam made its inaugural call on to the Bridgetown Port today. This call marks the start of the winter season which promises to be a bumper one for the island with 16 new ships set to call on the Bridgetown Port this year, a record number for a single season.

CEO of Barbados Port Inc. Named as President of The Caribbean Shipping Association
Bridgetown – Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) CEO, David Jean-Marie was named the new President of the Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA) on the first day of its Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition in Cartagena, Columbia. High on the meeting’s agenda was the opening up of Cuba and the completion of the Panama Canal in April 2016 which would allow container vessels of up to 13,000TEU through the canal, which is more than double the size of the ships that can now be accommodated.
BPI Brings Easter Cheer to the Elderly
BRIDGETOWN -- The Barbados Port Inc.’s (BPI) Community Outreach Committee brought the spirit of good cheer to the patients of the Geriatric Hospital on Beckles Road this Easter.

Barbados Port Inc. partners with AIDS Foundation to increase AIDS awareness
In observation of ‘Love Safely Week’ which runs from February 12 to 19, the Barbados Port Inc. has partnered with the AIDS Foundation of Barbados Inc. to sensitise and educate staff and other stakeholders about the importance of safe sex and to effectively address challenges posed by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Azura Brings Christmas Cheer
The Carnival Cruise Lines’ Azura liner brought some early Christmas cheer to the children of the Child Care Board’s Nightengale and Haynesville Children’s homes with the assistance of the Barbados Port Inc. While the children from Nightengale were welcomed on board the ship for a day of fun and festivities, the youth directorship team (Reef Rangers) of the Azura cruise line took the party to the children of Haynesville!
