Royal Caribbean International's Newest And Most Innovative Ship, Anthem of The Seas Makes Its Inaugural Visit to Barbados
Bridgetown, Nov. 16, 2015. Royal Caribbean International's most innovative ship, Anthem of the Seas, made its inaugural call to the Bridgetown Port on Sunday. The Quantum-class ship, the newest in the impressive Royal Caribbean fleet is on a twelve-day cruise around the Caribbean. Barbados was her second stop since leaving her permanent home, Cape Liberty Cruise Port in New York on November 10.

Another Mega Ship, Mein Schiff 3 Makes A Maiden Port Call To Barbados
Bridgetown - The fourth ship to make a maiden voyage to Barbados for the winter season, the TUI Cruise vessel M/S Mein Schiff 3 is one of the largest expected this year. The impressive 962ft long vessel required the full length of Berths 3 and 4 on this trip to dock. On its next trip it will test the ship readiness of the new Berth 5, which came on stream just this month, in preparation for the island hosting two mega ships at once, M/S Mein Schiff 3 and the M/S Britannica.

Norwegian Getaway Makes Its Inaugural Visit To Barbados
Bridgetown, November 7, 2015 - The cruise ship Norwegian Getaway made its inaugural call to the Bridgetown Port today, the third of sixteen inaugural ships expected this season. Officials of the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, Barbados Port Inc., and shipping agents, Platinum Port Agency Inc. officially welcomed the new vessel, which was built just last year.

The Cruise Ship MV Oosterdam is the First Inaugural Vessel for the Winter Season
Bridgetown, October 31, 2015 - The cruise ship MV Oosterdam made its inaugural call on to the Bridgetown Port today. This call marks the start of the winter season which promises to be a bumper one for the island with 16 new ships set to call on the Bridgetown Port this year, a record number for a single season.

CEO of Barbados Port Inc. Named as President of The Caribbean Shipping Association
Bridgetown – Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) CEO, David Jean-Marie was named the new President of the Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA) on the first day of its Annual General Meeting, Conference and Exhibition in Cartagena, Columbia. High on the meeting’s agenda was the opening up of Cuba and the completion of the Panama Canal in April 2016 which would allow container vessels of up to 13,000TEU through the canal, which is more than double the size of the ships that can now be accommodated.

Bayview surgeons get a clearer perspective
Bridgetown – Bayview Hospital has purchased its first GE Healthcare OEC 9900 Elite C-Arm surgical imaging machine. The portable machine, similar to an X-ray, is used to take magnified images of bone and tissue during surgical procedures, and will enable surgeons to operate on patients with more precision and accuracy.

Barbados Port Inc. developing the ‘total Port worker’
Bridgetown – Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) has awarded ten of its Dockers the Level 1 certifications in CVQ Stevedoring Operations. Completion of this Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme means these Dockers now have a work-based qualification that can be extended beyond the shores of Barbados, and into the Caribbean.

Bayview leading the way in reconstructive knee surgery
Bridgetown – The first two cases of "Arthroscopic Anatomic Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction (ACLR) Surgery" were performed at Bayview Hospital last month. Miss Tamara Nancoo, the Cambridge University educated, UK-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, performed both operations following the international trend of using “key-hole” surgery techniques to reconstruct the torn knee ligament and place it in its “normal” anatomical position in order to restore as normal knee function and stability.
