President Osborne to miss Tokyo 2020

The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) announced that President Sandra Osborne will not be among the officials traveling to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The president’s absence will in no way affect the team as all the pre-games and on-the-ground preparations are already in place to facilitate the athletes’ seamless participation in the games.

Shelley-Ann Griffith Appointed BOA’s New Assistant Secretary General

The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Shelley-Ann Griffith as its new Assistant Secretary General. Griffith, who previously held the position of director was appointed by the Board of Directors on October 7, to fill the post made vacant by Cameron Burke’s elevation to the post of Vice President at the recently held Annual General Meeting.

The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) joins the rest of the world in the count down to the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. For Barbados, the year 1968 would go down in history as being an important one for its sporting fraternity. It was the year that the country would make its debut at the Summer Olympics and coming just short of two years after attaining independence, it was an especially proud occasion for the island nation.

Svitzer donates defibrillator to the Port

Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) on Monday received a donation to its onsite medical facility of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Lifepak Defibrillator from international tug operator Svitzer. The new AED machine will benefit both locals and BPI visitors in emergencies where it is necessary to resuscitate individuals who have stopped breathing or their heart has stopped.

Seven Seas Explorer makes her maiden voyage to Barbados

Bridgetown – The Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) yesterday hosted the official inaugural ceremony for the arrival of the Seven Seas Explorer at the Bridgetown Port. The luxury cruise ship and its crew were welcomed to Barbados by Hon. Richard Sealy, Minister for Tourism and International Transport, Chairman of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., Mr Alvin Jemmott, BPI Divisional Manager Corporate Development and Strategy, Kenneth Atherley, Representatives of the vessel Mr Martin Ince and Kevyn Yearwood, along with and other invited guests aboard the brand new 375-suite luxury liner.
