Mein Schiff 4 cruises into Barbados for the first time
The Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) has officially greeted the Captain and crew of German cruise ship Mein Schiff 4 at the Bridgetown Port on Friday the 7th of April during an inaugural ceremony onboard the vessel. It was the second time in a week that the BPI had welcomed a cruise ship on its maiden voyage; French cruise ship Le Soléal also docked at the Port in the same week, bringing hundreds of cruise ship passengers to our shores.

New Hospital Administrator at Bayview
Bayview Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of new Hospital Administrator, Mrs. Julie ‘Jules’ Reid. Jules Reid is a Registered Nurse who brings to Bayview over 23 years of international Healthcare experience in the areas of Nursing, Counselling and Management. She replaces previous Hospital Administrator Mrs. Winifred Edwards, who retired last month after 16 years of dedicated employment at Bayview Hospital.

Barbados Olympic Association Inc. hosts peaceful youth rally
The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) hosted its annual International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) on Sunday 9th April at Gall Hill Playing Field in St. John. This year’s IDSDP event saw local sports teams come together to participate in a multi-sport youth rally which included basketball, dominoes, football, netball, and road tennis. With the support of UNICEF and the U.S. Embassy in Barbados, the event was used as a platform to highlight the role of sport to strengthen the sense of unity amongst our nation’s communities.

Lewis/Wickham Boardwalk in Bridgetown reopens
Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) today announced that the renovations to the Lewis/Wickham Boardwalk is completed, and that boat users and pedestrians can safely resume use of the waterway and walkway between the Chamberlain Lift Bridge and the traffic lights by Chefette Restaurant.

Given the increasingly high incidence of asthma and allergic rhinitis, this new service is a very important addition to Bayview Hospital, as well as to Barbados.
