Barbados Junior Robotics Camp Turns 3 with 3 Levels  -

 
 48 Youngsters from Barbados to Participate in BJRC 2017
 
The Caribbean Science Foundation (CSF), a non-profit organization promoting science and engineering in the Caribbean, announced today that its third annual Barbados Junior Robotics Camp (BJRC) is starting, with 3 levels this year.  The BJRC is a one-month summer enrichment program for young Barbadian students interested in robotics, and introduces them to basic technology and engineering concepts as well as co mputer programming.

Olympic week celebrations in Barbados a success

The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) held an entire week of activities to celebrate Olympic Day.  The celebrations started with an electrifying lecture/panel discussion on June 21 on the topic, “Sports as a pathway out of poverty” at the BOA headquarters in Wildey, St. Michael.

Olympic Week Kick-off with Lecture/Discussion

The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) kicked off the annual Olympic Week observation with an electrifying lecture/panel discussion on the topic, “Sports as a pathway out of poverty.”
 
Director of Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit, Cheryl Willoughby delivered the lecture, which was punctuated by thought-provoking anecdotes from panelists, Mac Fingall, a former teacher and sports coach, Ytannia Wiggins, Barbados Community College Tutor and Country Coordinator for the A Ganar Program and Grand Master Sports Administrator, Adrian Donavan.

The Queen’s Baton In Barbados

Barbados became the 5th Caribbean nation to receive the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton on June 10. The Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR), is a tradition that celebrates the Commonwealth’s diversity, inspires community pride, and excites people about the sporting event. The Queen’s Baton carries a message from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that calls the Commonwealth’s athletes to come together in a peaceful and friendly competition.

Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay Arrives in Barbados

The Commonwealth Games’ Queen’s Baton Relay arrived in Barbados on Saturday from St. Lucia.  The baton which will eventually touch every Commonwealth territory was met by President of the Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA), Mr. Steve Stoute, Secretary General, Mr. Erskine Simmons, Assistant Secretary General, Mr. Cameron Burke, Chef de Mission to the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas, Mrs. Gail Craig-Archer and Commonwealth Games Ambassador and BOA Board Member, Sandra Osbourne.

Barbados Port Inc. supporting restoration of historic East Point Lighthouse

Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) has proudly announced its involvement in the restoration of the historic East Point Lighthouse in St. Philip. The restoration project, to be performed by Hinds Transport Services Ltd. and overseen by the BPI, commenced last month marked by an official ceremony and the initial removal of tree branches which have penetrated the building over time.
