The Queen’s Baton In Barbados
Barbados became the 5th Caribbean nation to receive the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton on June 10. The Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR), is a tradition that celebrates the Commonwealth’s diversity, inspires community pride, and excites people about the sporting event. The Queen’s Baton carries a message from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that calls the Commonwealth’s athletes to come together in a peaceful and friendly competition.

Barbados Olympic Association Inc. hosts peaceful youth rally
The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) hosted its annual International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) on Sunday 9th April at Gall Hill Playing Field in St. John. This year’s IDSDP event saw local sports teams come together to participate in a multi-sport youth rally which included basketball, dominoes, football, netball, and road tennis. With the support of UNICEF and the U.S. Embassy in Barbados, the event was used as a platform to highlight the role of sport to strengthen the sense of unity amongst our nation’s communities.

BOA to Host Olympic Solidarity Regional Workshop and CANOC General Assembly

(BOA) will host two high-level meetings this month, the Olympic Solidarity Workshop and the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) General Assembly. The meetings take place at the Hilton Barbados Resort from October 14-17, 2014.

Queen’s Baton to Arrive in 14 Days
Bridgetown, Barbados – In just 14 days, the Glasgow 2014 Queen’s Baton will arrive from Guyana, the 42nd of its 71 Commonwealth destinations. Barbados will provide an integral link when it welcomes the baton as it travels on one of the most engaging relays in the world. Today the Baton is currently travelling through St. Helena (an island in the South African Ocean).
Barbados to host the iconic Commonwealth Baton
Bridgetown, Barbados – The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. (BOA) is gearing up to host the iconic Commonwealth Games Baton when it visits the island on March 5 as part of the Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR). The QBR is a much loved tradition of the Commonwealth Games which will be held this year from July 23 – August 3 in Glasglow, Scotland.
