Organizations should strive to have a culture that embraces change. This is important so that when change comes, as it always does, employees would not sabotage the organization because they already operate in a culture that is dynamic. In situations like mergers and acquisitions for example, managers can be sure that employees would be less resistant and would make a smooth transition into new cultures and territories if the culture already promotes development.
A serious sports enthusiast, I was an Olympic Games junkie. I sat for hours in front of the television and watched sport after sport, living vicariously through the athletes. Appreciating fully the sacrifice, dedication and discipline that each athlete at the games had to endure to reach, let alone medal in the games.
There was a show on television which highlighted the fact that humans respond to what they think they are going to hear without even listening to the question. They gave a series of questions. All of the participants in the surveyed failed at answering the questions, including me, the at home participant.
