Waterhall Polo A Fine Outing

Bridgetown, Barbados/ Feb. 14/PRMR INC/

Polo at Waterhall last Sunday was spectacular. From the athletic
competitors in body-fitting jodhpurs riding some magnificent
horses, to the Josef’s Restaurant catered sushi, to the
delightful potpourri of spectators, some die hard polo fans and
some first time spectators.

Jack Kidd, whose family name has been
associated with Polo for years, said that Waterhall was comparable
to some of the best polo fields in the world. The opulent yet
friendly atmosphere brought to a climax Waterhall’s three
match series against Hickstead All England Polo Club. The series
was won by Waterhall.

Waterhall’s Polo Coordinator, Shelly
Williams said that she was very pleased with the Waterhall Season
thus far. “We have been able to create an atmosphere at
Waterhall where Barbadians and visitors feel welcome. We are very
excited about the rest of the season as we have teams visiting from
Australia and Argentina, and there will also be three more UK teams
visiting. The support from our sponsors and spectators has been
tremendous, and Sir Charles, the tournament patron is overjoyed
with our success.”

Among the first time visitors to Waterhall
was the Nation Newspaper’s former Advertising Manager Wilfred
Field who declared his instant passion for the game and his desire
to learn what was involved. Neil Bernard who commentated obliged
him and others like him as he entertainingly explained the rules of
the game and the strengths and weaknesses of the players.

It was a treat for family and friends.
Lisa Anderson who attended with her friend Maureen Simpson, who was
visiting from London, was also a first timer at Waterhall. She said
that it was very interesting and that she would be back to the next
game as it was a nice place to hang out. Beverley Lynch also from
England declared that Watherhall was “lovely”.

Jeweler Heather Straker of Success Gift
Shop, Chatters Tea, Room Bagatelle Great House was there along with
three friends from Canada and England and said that Waterhall and
the polo were absolutely wonderful. Her friend Yvonne Endicott
confessed that she was supporting the English side as she had
watched polo in Windsor and lived near by. Young entrepreneur
Molissa Smith of Charlotte’s Chest was also very excited by
the entire charm and excitement at Waterhall.

Waterhall’s third series for the
season starts this Sunday, February 17 against Arran Malt Mad Dogs
from the UK.
