Design On the Go!

Being into technology, especially the type that can make life easier, I get pretty excited every time I stumble onto a really nifty (yes I said nifty) app! Now we should all be pass the stage of just taking our ipads to meetings to show clients the beautiful masterpieces that we as Designers create on a daily basis. But what if the client, after seeing your work has a new idea they’d like to see? Oh sure, you can just take out the old paper and pencil and start sketching. Oooor you can bring your sketch to life on your ipad, right on the spot!

Below are some nifty Graphic Design apps available online, have a look:

Adobe Ideas
Is basically a digital sketchbook, which encompasses the essence of Adobe design applications like Adobe Illustrator® and Adobe Photoshop®. Similarly to the desktop apps you can sketch using vectors, layers, the eye dropper, opacity and more.

Pen Ultimate
The original, easiest-to-use, best-selling handwriting app for iPad.
Penultimate gives you the fast, tactile gratification of writing on paper, with digital power and flexibility. Take notes, keep sketches, or share your next breakthrough idea -- in the office, on the go, or home on the sofa.

Adobe Photoshop Express
Though a watered down version of Adobe Photoshop®, you can quickly take an image and crop, straighten, flip, add a border and alter colour.

What the Font
This is a pretty sweet app. I know for us brilliant designers there may hardly ever be a font that we don’t know…but let’s just say the scenario ever decided to present itself, you could whip out your iphone, take a snapshot of the text and What the Font will tell you what it is.

Cool Hunting
Cool Hunting is synonymous with seeking inspiration. A global team of editors and contributors sift through innovations in design, technology, art and culture to create an award-winning publication, consisting of daily updates and weekly mini-documentaries.

Ruler Plus
Just because your iPhone is small doesn't mean it cannot be used to measure longer objects.

Brushes
Create art anywhere, with Brushes on your iPad!
Brushes is a popular painting app, specially designed for the iPad. Simple to learn, yet powerful enough for pros — Brushes has been used to create 4 different New Yorker covers!

Phaidon Design Classics
The most comprehensive collection of design classics available at a special introductory price for a limited period only.

Wordpress for ipad
If you have a WordPress site, this is a way to manage it on your ipad. You can modify your pages, add new posts, photos and videos. You can also review your comments and reply to your readers.

These are just a few, I’ll be back with more some time later. See you next week! Same time, same place?

;)
