The International Association of Business Communicators Barbados Chapter (IABC Barbados), the premier association for public relations, marketing, and other professional communicators, turned its attention to exploring the value of internal communications at its first professional development event for the year, held at the Island Inn Hotel on Thursday, April 11.  

In her welcome remarks, the President of IABC Barbados, Dr. Pamala Proverbs, told the full house of business communicators that there is strength in numbers. Therefore, she added that one of the most effective ways to elevate the profession on the island was through membership in a professional body.

Fintech industry leaders from all over the world will gather at the Sam Lord’s Castle Wyndham Grand Barbados from January 24–26, 2024, for the second edition of Fintech Islands Experience (FiX). FiX24 is gearing up to be bigger and better than the inaugural conference held in 2022, with over 700 fintech professionals, start-up founders, financial regulators, policymakers, and more who are set to participate in this landmark gathering. 

Local coach Althea Belgrave has been awarded a scholarship from Olympic Solidarity to participate in the International Support Program for African and Caribbean Sport (PAISAC) 2023, which began on November 20.

Representatives of 21 firms from Scotland and the wider United Kingdom were recently in Barbados to explore potential business and investment opportunities. Representing various sectors, the delegates attended the 2023 Scottish Trade Mission to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, an initiative which offers opportunities for networking, business development, and mutual prosperity between the countries.
