The Maria Holder Memorial Trust (MHM), a Charity created in honour of the late Maria Holder, who fell in love with Barbados and subsequently made it her home over a quarter of a century, has continued in its quest to support the disadvantage through a donation to Dame Olga Lopes-Seale for her Needy Children#8217s Fund.
At a gathering at Dame Olga#8217s home, Project Manager of the Trust, Mary Brewster explained that MHM was created three years ago with the primary goal of creating longevity and improving lives.#160 She said that MHM, in working through its approval process for giving funding, was very impressed by the privacy and dignity with which Aunty Olga afforded to the persons she helped.
"One thing that struck me about my dealings with Aunty Olga was that despite her public persona she is a very private and confidential person.#160 We congratulate her on the outstanding work that she has been doing for the poor, and children in particular, and look forward to continuing our relationship with her in helping the children of Barbados."
Dame Olga thanked MHM and said that the work she is doing is made possible through the generosity of a number of individuals and organisations.#160 #8220I am not understating what I do, but I could not do what I do without the help of people and it is your kindness that has helped me to go on for many, many years.
Since its establishment MHM has assisted a number of charities including, Hope Foundation, The Autism Association of Barbados, The Barbados Cancer Society, The Because of Jenna Trust, The Queen Elizabeth Home for Children, located in Grenada, The Children#8217s Development Centre, The Diabetes Foundation and the Barbados Council for the Disabled (BCD).
